Genetic Test Results: MITZ
Mitz is NOT AT RISK for any of the tested known disorders in the Maine Coon breed, including HCM, SMA, PKD, and PKDef. Mitz was also tested for over three dozen additional disease mutations found in other breeds and those tests also came back ALL CLEAR.
Mitz is NOT AT RISK, but was found to be a CARRIER of two different gene mutations: Factor XII Deficiency and MDR1/ABCB1. These gene mutations are autosomal recessive and mild in severity. In laymen’s terms, this simply means that as long as Mitz is paired with a stud who is also NOT AT RISK, she WILL NOT produce kittens that have these gene mutations.
*NOTE: All of Lake View Coons’ Kings are CLEAR of Factory XII Deficiency and MDMR1/ABCB1 and therefore do not pose a risk of producing kittens with these gene mutations, despite a Queen being a carrier.
