It's TICA Time "Stars & Stripes" Show (2023)

This weekend we attended our fourth annual “Stars & Stripes” cat show, hosted by the It’s TICA Time Cat Club. It was an incredibly busy weekend in Raleigh, with not only the cat show, but also an NHL game and an RV show being held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.

We look forward to this event every year, and as per usual the show did not disappoint! This venue always attracts a lot of cat fanciers who travel from all over the area to see dozens of cat breeds competing in the kitten, championship, alter, and household pet classes. We even had nearly a dozen Lake View Coons followers, friends, and family that traveled from as far as Virginia to see the show!*

*It was so lovely to see you again, Colleen and Phil Adair! Give your furbaby Freddy a big hello from us.

*Diana Fox, it was a privilege to meet you and your friend Hope Wester! We enjoyed watching Ozzy of Hope Cats competing along side our Luna.

*May Winborne-Rice, it was lovely chatting with you about your furry crew. Thanks for making the drive out to meet us!

*Tara & Rod, thanks for stopping in and saying hi. It was nice to finally meet you face to face!

*Thanks for coming all the way from Greensboro to meet us, Angela & Aaron Satterfield! We enjoyed chatting with you and having the opportunity to see photos of your mini panthers, Jazz & Mojo.

*Melissa & Kevin Smith, you two are so incredibly generous and kind! Thank you for making the long drive all the way from Virginia to see your furbaby’s brother, Rogue, compete. We enjoyed dinner, drinks, and lovely conversation and our kitties say THANK YOU for all their thoughtful presents!

All in all we had a really wonderful time. Both Luna and S.L. earned a bunch of points to go towards championship titles, and between the two of them, they were awarded 5 different finals. Nothing is official until the show stats are entered into the system by the executive office, but if my calculations are correct, after the conclusion of this show, Luna is close to earning her Grand Champion title, and S.L. should now be eligible for his Grand Champion, Double Grand Champion, Triple Grand Champion, and Quadruple Grand Champion titles!🥳

Rogue, while he has traveled with us to shows in the past for the socialization and desensitizing opportunities, this was the first time he officially entered and competed. He always does really well with traveling, and with staying in the hotel. He even does great being in the show hall and lounging on the grooming table as people visit our benching area. He was a little unsure about the actual judge’s ring and competition part of things though. It took him a bit to warm up to being handled by the judges, but by the end of the second day he ended up giving one in particular a kitty hug and kiss to the face. It was so adorable, but unfortunately that doesn’t win you extra points in the ring, haha! 😝
