Summer is finally here and with it comes the highly anticipated arrival of kittens from our newest king, Panther! We also thought it would be a great time to share some other announcements with our Lake View Coons friends, family, and followers, including details relating to our upcoming adoption application process, retirement plans for a few of our breeders, and our pairing plans for Fall/Winter 2024.
Summer Litters
We are super excited to announce the arrival of our newest breeding king’s summer litters! Panther was paired with four of our active breeding queens this past Spring, and in July we welcomed 17 adorable, fluffy kittens. If you follow us on Facebook you may have already seen a sneak peek, but for those of you who don’t do social media, we wanted to officially introduce you to Ryder, Luna, Blurry, and Alya’s newest additions.
Adoption Applications
Here are a few quick reminders for those not already familiar with our kitten reservation process:
When reserving kittens, we always give first pick to our Cattery, and then after that to the few breeders we are closely networked with and trust. Next, we give priority to our immediate family and then to our current Lake View Coons family. We also try to prioritize approved applicants who express an interest in showing and/or who express an interest in adopting a sibling pair (that is, assuming we have kittens with show potential and/or a sibling pair that would do well going home together and with the family that expresses an interest).
Interested individuals need to submit an application with each litter. We do not keep past applications on file.
When adoption applications are scheduled to open, no early OR late entries are accepted or considered.
We do not keep a waitlist, nor do we accept deposits for kittens not yet born.
Since we typically receive such an overwhelming response to our available kittens, our digital adoption application form is only made visible to our website for a limited time and we limit the submission of applications to a small window (usually less than 24-48 hours).
That being said, we plan to open up our adoption applications to the public, for Panther’s kittens, beginning on Saturday, October 5th at 8 AM Eastern Time and ending Sunday, October 6th 8 PM Eastern Time.
The 6 kittens from our champion and grand champion titled queens (Luna & Blurry) are priced at $4000 USD. The 11 kittens from untitled queens (Ryder & Alya) are priced at $3500.
Beginning on Saturday , October 5th, we will review applications and start making calls to those selected for the next phase of our reservation process, the phone interview. PLEASE BE SURE TO MAKE YOURSELF AVAILABLE FOR CALLS OVER THE WEEKEND, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9AM-9PM EASTERN TIME.
Our goal is to have our final decisions made before the end of the day on Sunday, October 6th and contracts out by end of the day on Monday, October 7th. Of course these plans could change and we could extend the application process, depending on the level of interests we receive, and the number of applications that are submitted that weekend.
We ask that contracts be reviewed, signed, and returned within 24 hours of receiving them. After our contract is reviewed and signed, we will send a digital invoice for the total cost of the kitten via PayPal Business. A reservation fee of 20% the total cost of the kitten will be due one week after your contract is signed (or two days before your scheduled pickup, whichever comes first). If we do not receive payment for the kitten reservation fee within this time frame, we will assume you are no longer interested and make the kitten(s) available again.
After the adoption application and phone interview process is complete, if you are selected to reserve one of our available kittens, scheduled pick up for kittens will be coordinated as follows (updated on September 7th to reflect female go-home dates to be same as males):
Ryder’s Litter of 5
Go home days tentatively set for the weekend of October 12th-13th
Blurry’s Litter of 5 & Luna’s Singleton
Go home days tentatively set for the weekend of October 19th-20th
Alya’s Litter of 6
Go home days tentatively set for the weekend of October 26th-27th.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are unable to physically meet us at our cattery to pick up your kitten on your scheduled pick up date as outlined above, please hold off on submitting an application until a future litter.

Planned Pairings
We are excited to announce future plans for our RW QGC IAU Orion’s Hunt StarArk and our black tortie with white queen, LakeViewCoons Morning Skye (affectionately nicknamed "Patches”). If all goes according to plan, we hope to have kittens from this pairing in Fall/Winter 2024. More details relating to this future pairing will be published once we have confirmation of a successful pairing. Because one of the parents of this litter has earned championship titles, altered pets and altered show kittens will be priced at $4000 USD.
As for our upcoming plans beyond this pairing, we will be giving our active breeding queens a much deserved rest. During this breeding break (November 2024 - May 2025) we plan to attend some local TICA shows within the south east region. We will of course announce to our Facebook cattery page when we’ve firmed up plans regarding who we will enter and which shows we will attend. It would be wonderful to have an opportunity to meet some of you who are local to the show halls in each state!
Retired Cats
Last and certainly not least, we’d like to share some of our future plans to officially retire a few of our breeding cats.
MITZ
First up is our black smoke retired queen nicknamed “Mitz.” She has been retired for a couple years now, but living with us as a spoiled pet while we have her offspring actively breeding within the cattery. Her daughter, Blue, was retired last Fall, and we hope to retire her daughter Blurry next year. Mitz has her followup advanced cardiac screening with echocardiogram scheduled for when she turns 5 years old in November. After we receive the results of that very important proactive health screening, she will go to live with a wonderful couple, Kim & Dave, in South Carolina.
ALYA
Next we have our lovely black silver chinchilla torbie girl, “Alya.” This girl has been a diva since the day she arrived to us. She has an over the top affectionate personality when it comes to her people, but she is not a fan of living with so many other cats and she takes a little bit of extra time and patience when she is introduced to new environments or experiences. Alya turned 3 years old in April and while she has lived with us she has gladly claimed our youngest’s bedroom as her domain. She does, on occasion, explore the rest of the home where our other cats freely roam, but it’s always on her terms and in small doses. Alya has a spay appointment scheduled for September 27th. After she’s had some time to heal from her surgery and adjust to her current litter being sent off to their new families, we will be looking for a FURever home for her with someone that lives local. The ideal candidate would be an individual or family that does not have other pets and would be willing to work with us to continue her proactive advanced cardiac screening with echocardiogram at Upstate Vet in Greenville. We would of course pay for the cost of the cardiologist visit, but would need her future family to be willing to commit to bringing her to the appointment when she turns 5 years old in April of 2026.
LUNA
*UPDATE: 28-July-2024 - Luna is now RESERVED for our existing Lake View Coons family, Christi & Geoff K.
After that we have our champion titled queen, Bella Luna Nera, or just “Luna” for short. This beautiful black smoke girl recently turned 2 years old in April and is currently momma to a solid black singleton kitten. Unfortunately, while Luna has only had two litters, both have been very difficult for her and both resulted in a single surviving kitten. We try to always prioritize the mental and physical health of our cats above our own hopes and wishes for our breeding program, and with that in mind we feel it is best that Luna retire early and spend the rest of her days as the spoiled queen she deserves to be. Luna has a spay appointment scheduled for October 1st. Once she’s had some time to heal from that surgery and adjust to her singleton being sent off to his new FURever home, we will be looking for a family that lives local to adopt her. The ideal candidate would be an individual or family that has at least one adult home during the day and lots of patience with her overbearing demands to always climb into your lap or lay on your chest (I know, I know! It’s a tough ask, hahah!). Because Luna has an offspring actively in a breeding program, this same candidate must also be willing to work with us to continue her proactive advanced cardiac screening with echocardiogram at Upstate Vet in Greenville. Again, we would pay for the cost of the cardiologist visit, but would need her future PAWrent to be willing to commit to bringing her to the appointment when she turns 3 years old in April of 2025, and again when she turns 5 years old in April 2027.
ORION
Finally, we are incredibly sad to announce that we have plans to retire our current titled king, RW QGC IAU Orion’s Hunt. Orion has been the most amazing stud. He isn’t super hormonal and he typically produces kittens with the most laid back personalities. Unfortunately, our breeding goals and plans have changed and while Orion has earned several titles and awards for his confirmation in the show ring, his pedigree line is very common among certain breeder circles and one that we are hoping to transition away from. Orion will likely be neutered next summer, and if all goes accordingly to plan, he will live out his retirement years with our sister and brother in law, Sara & Shawn, in New York.
If you are interested in adopting Alya this Fall/Winter, please feel free to email us to discuss the opportunity further: info@lakeviewcoons.com.
